Do What Shane Does to Be Successful

Hello. Welcome. I am Shane Jacks with pdrcollege.com. I don’t know what the stutter was there for on the dot com, but again, I am Shane Jacks with pdrcollege.com, cohost of PDR College podcast, and the other host, Keith Consentino is not here with us today. We’re going to do this short alone, short number two. We gave you one last week, and here we are we’re going to hit you with another one this week. And really quick guys, all I want to talk about today is, well, right now it is raining like mad here. This Hurricane Joaquin is traveling through the Bahamas, north of the Bahamas now I do believe, as I record this, and it’s headed this way. It’s going to hit off the east coast, but it is raining like mad here and it is going to continue to rain for the entire weekend. Tomorrow is going to be absolutely dreadful, and normally, well today. I’m saying tomorrow. I am actually recording this Thursday night. But today is dreadful, going to be dreadful, and it is going to be rainy and it is going to be unproductive.
And what I’m going to do is I’m going to call on an account that I used to have that I don’t have anymore, and that’s what I’m going to challenge you to do. Now, I’m not telling you to go call on an account that you don’t have anymore. That’s only one type of account that you can call on. What I want you to do today, or this weekend, or Monday, whenever you have the chance, is call on “that one account.” And what I mean by that is call on that one account that you know needs a little bit of work. Maybe they haven’t given you some work in quite some time and you just haven’t really spoken with them. Drop in. Say hey. Just tell them you miss them or whatever you’ve got to tell them to make yourself feel better. Just drop in on that one account. Again, in the case that I just gave you, in my case it is an account that I used to have that has a pretty good service department and would give us not a ton of work, but the work was priced well and it’s right down the road from the shop.
And I heard they may be having a few issues with their current providers, so I’m going to hit that dealership today. And I’m urging you guys to do that. Again, it may be a shop or a dealership or an account, whatever, that you just haven’t heard from in a while. Maybe they’re lagging just a little bit or maybe the last time you spoke with them it was a little awkward or something. Whatever the deal is, just find “that one account” that needs your presence there, that needs you to drop in, if nothing more than to say hey. So that’s all I want to pressure you to do. And I said pressure. That’s not what I really mean, but that’s all I really want to urge you to do, rephrasing that. I want to urge you to go see that one account. Drop in, say hey, take them donuts. Take them coffee, do whatever you’ve got to do, just show them your charm, flash that smile, and do the selling guys. That’s what we’re about here is picking up the pace selling and making more money. And if just dropping in for a few minutes on an account that may be a few minutes down the road from you that you’re going to be dropping by today or in the next few days anyway, it’s not going to kill you to do that. It’s not going to kill you to buy a box of donuts or a few coffees. Do whatever you’ve got to go guys to get in there, drop in on that one account, to make your business better.
